Behavioral Intervention Supervisor

Position Summary:

Reports to the Director of Education, Assistant Principal and is responsible for assisting students and educational staff in their behavior management needs.

This position is Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm

***After 90 days of continuous employment will receive $500 sign on bonus***

Position Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with CHK's Mission Statement and applicable laws and regulations, an employee in this position shall:

  • Obtains TCI Trainer Certification
  • Implements Crisis Intervention (TCI) techniques effectively and consistently
  • Participates and promotes the school's Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program
  • Assists in providing training to all staff and other Behavioral Support Specialists with respect to conflict resolution skills
  • Provides evaluations, supervision, and training for Behavioral Support Specialists
  • Assists teachers, teaching assistants, and 1:1 aide in providing appropriate levels of supervision for students
  • Responsible for responding to behavioral crisis situations and intervene when necessary utilizing proper Therapeutic Crisis Intervention methods
  • Helps students meet their behavioral goals by monitoring behavior and intervening as appropriate
  • Assists students in crisis
  • Assists in conflict resolution using appropriate techniques
  • Actively participates in and promotes character education
  • Communicates with colleagues, supervisors, parents, and residential staff as needed regarding student progress
  • Provide support to Education Staff in regards to behavioral strategies
  • Maintaining order and appropriate behavior by addressing students' actions and encouraging and reinforcing positive behavior
  • Performs other duties as assigned by administration such as breakfast duty, ISS duty, and bus duty
  • Reports and documents all incidents as needed and in compliance with school protocol
  • Attends all trainings and meetings as required by administration.
  • Perform other related duties as required

Essential Skills:

  • Possess valid NYS driver's license
  • Ability to use sound judgement while following agency policies, practices, and procedures

Education, Training, & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or Related Human Services field preferred
  • Five years' experience working with children who have special needs and/or serious emotional disturbances
  • Minimum 3 years Supervisory experience
  • TCI Trainer Certification to be obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Successful completion of TCI course and yearly recertification
  • Ability to work with diverse populations

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Prolonged sitting/standing/walking
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Successful completion of TCI course and yearly recertification
  • Ability to work with diverse populations

While performing the duties associated with this position, an employee will be in an office setting; in a van or other vehicle; or, in the community at large (attending seminars, conducting training sessions)
